	Mothers Day - Sunday 18th March Mothering Sunday is approaching, so we suggest treating your mum, wife or partner to a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Duke. Valentine's Day - Tuesday 14th February The Duke hosted a wonderful Valentine's day evening meal, which includes an appetiser, 8 choices of starters & main courses, dessert, then coffee & mints. 	Chopper Harris Night - Mon 27th Feb The Duke's 6th Chopper Harris night is on Monday 27th Feb. Our favourite comedian, MC Micky Pugh, will be introducing Chopper together with Tommy 'the Doc' Docherty. Two real Chelsea greats - a once in a lifetime opportunity. Details here. With tickets just £20 each, which includes the usual hot buffet, the evening will be one to remember.	Moonlight Ale is back on now! The ever popular Moonlight Ale is back on at the Duke. This beer has been brewed using a special blend of malts and English Fuggles and Susan hops to give a beautiful golden colour, lingering taste and 'toasty' aroma. ABV: 4.5%. Read more here.

	Burns Night Supper, Wed 25th January It was a wonderful Robert Burns Night on the 25th, with the Duke is hosting a Burns Night Supper. Mulled Wine & Winter Pimms! The Eliot's mulled wine is in full flow - and it's on tap. We also offer a winter Pimms as well, which is very nice hot, especially with Apple juice. Pop down and try a glass or two!

	Duke Receives Congatulatory Letter from Mayor! The Duke has received a letter from Councillor Chris Turrell, the Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest, congratulating the Duke on appearing in the Good Beer Guide again, for 2012. The Mayor, a long-time CAMRA member wished to pass on his best wishes and continuing success for the Duke of Edinburgh.	The Duke is going Greener! We have changed our waste disposal company to a local Ascot firm called Shorts. With an ever increasing positive environmental policy, the Duke wanted to do a bit more than 'the usual. So the Duke is now recycling all cardboard and paper and glass, with frequent collections organised. Shorts is a large Ascot-based firm who specialise in recycling.

	The Duke is in Good Beer Guide 2012! The Duke will be featured in the Good Beer Guide 2012, following on from the entry this year, 2011. The Good Beer Guide, which is considered the Bible for good pubs and ales around the country, lists a selective number of pubs it considers to fulfil the requirments for inclusion in to the established directory.	Bars & Restaurant Refurbished The pub went through a 3-week redecoration in November, which was completed well on-time. The whole bar area and restaurant has been done, and some new memorabilia put in the bar area as well. See some photos here.

	Hot & Spicy Night is on Thursdays Choose a dish from the Hot & Spicy menu and have a standard glass of house wine or a pint of Carling, 2B or 3B or any soft drink for only £10.95. 	Cask Marque - Top Marks Awarded! This week, so close to Christmas, the Duke had its latest unannounced visit for the real ales to be checked & tested for the highest standards expected. This enables the Duke to keep its Cask Marque status. All the real ales were checked for their temperature, appearance, aroma and taste, and all received full marks: 5/5 each. Cask Marque - Awarded for excellence in the serving of cask beer.	The Duke has launched a blog! The new Duke blog will be used as another news platform for regulars and guests of the Duke. 	Wiltshire Gold Real Ale - 4% ABV The Duke will be offering its latest guest ale, Wiltshire Gold, from Friday 14th May. The ale is a light amber colour using Styrian goldings, with a gentle floral, hoppy aroma, and a sweet, malty taste. Perfect for a sunny day! Cask Marque - Awarded for excellence in the serving of cask beer.	Dinner Voucher Gift Certificates Dinner Gift Certificates have returned! Due to the number of times we have been asked if we still do them, the Duke now offers 'Gift Certificates' again! 	Noël Real Ale - a Real Winter Warmer! Noël Real Ale is back on for the festive season. Launched in 1987 and named in honour of the present Chairman's father, Sir Noel Arkell, who was born on Christmas Day. The strongest of Arkell's Ales, this full-bodied beer is cleverly disguised by its distinctive light colour, and slides down very easily, leaving drinkers with a warm, tingling feeling. Read more here. ABV: 5.5%.	Happy New Year! An absolutely fantastic New Year's Eve celebration at the Duke! We had a great time, and even found time for an early quiz. The buffet was wonderful, and Team Duke were on top service form. Thank you to all who came - we enjoy your company and the atmosphere created.

	New Year's Eve Party & Disco! This New Year's Eve will see a disco and party at the Duke. With DJ Nick spinning the discs and a full buffet, it is sure to be a great evening. Royal Bassett Ale - now back @ the Duke Arkell's Brewery was very proud to announce that, in recognition of Wootton Bassett's new royal charter status, it brewed a special new beer called 'Royal Bassett Ale'. The ale was very popular when the Duke offered it after its original release a few months ago, so we are pleased to announce it is returning on Sat 8th October. 	National Sausage Week! To celebrate National Sausage Week the Duke is offering a National Sausage Week Menu! Available from Monday 10th to Friday 14th October. 	Today, 10th Oct, we held the 90th birthday party of Dennis 'Captain Mac' McCaig. Dennis is a regular customer of the Duke and today he enjoyed the company of numerous friends and family for a celebratory lunch at the Duke. Dennis was 249 Squadron leader in the R.A.F. He valiantly fought in the Battle of Britain during World War 2 and has received an M.B.E and an A.F.C for his services. Read more here.	Jolly Boys' London-Paris Bike Ride... The Charity bike ride by the Jolly Boys was completed in good time, with the guys riding 80 miles a day. The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Charity will be happily benefiting from the Jolly Boys' charity bike ride as well as last month's fund raising quiz night @ the Duke. Well done, guys!

	Summer Salads - Closed for now... The Duke offered its latest salad menu, which was a choice of 8 different salads - each one enjoyable for either lunch or a light evening meal. Thursday 6th October saw the National Cask & Ale week and Berkshire Pub Week celebrated at the Duke with a choice of all 4 real ales being available as one's drink choice with any meal on the Hot & Spicy Menu for the evening. Come down and enjoy a meal and drink for just £10.95. Read more about Hot & Spicy Night here.	Bee's Organic Ale Arkell's award-winning Bee's Organic Ale is back at the Duke from 13th Sep. Organically-grown malted barley, hops and organically-produced honey are used in the brew. These give this cask-conditioned ale a light, fresh taste - with the organic honey providing a delightful and surprising flavour. ABV: 4.5%

	Quiz Night - Sat 6th August - Fantastic Evening! Organised by "The Jolly Boys", pub regulars Lee, Dale & Adam, the flim & music quiz night in aid of the Royal British Legion went very well indeed. With a hot buffet included, the teams had an enjoyable evening and the charity will be happy with the funds raised. Read more on the blog here. 	Royal British Legion Quiz Night - Sat 6th August Organised by "The Jolly Boys", pub regulars Lee, Dale & Adam, there is a flim & music quiz night in aid of the Royal British Legion on Saturday 6th August. Hurricane Ale - from Sat 16th July A new Limited Edition Fine Ale will be available at the Duke from Saturday 14th July. Hurricane Ale has been brewed by Arkell's in respect to the Royal International Air Tattoo. ABV: 4.0%. Read more here.

	Bastille Day - Thursday 14th July Bastille Day, the French National Day, will be celebrated at the Duke with a wonderful French-style menu on Thursday 14th July. A few favourites include:French Onion Soup, Moules Mariniere, Bouillabaisse, Duck, Beef Bourgignon... more here. 2 courses with coffee are £14.95. 3 courses with coffee are £19.95.	Royal Ascot - the week is over! Royal Ascot - it's all over... and what a week we had! A thoroughly enjoyable week again this year. This year was our 11th year of Royal Ascot week, and it seems to get better each year. A massive thank you to all our returning customers - we hope you enjoyed your day at the races and we hope to see you again next year.

	JRA 60 - 'Celebratory' Real Ale The Duke now has its latest special real ale - JRA 60. Available now, the ABV 3.6% real ale has been specially brewed as a one-off to celebrate Chairman James Arkell's 60th bithday. It is a perfect beverage for that sunny day or balmy evening. JRA 60 will be on at the Duke until 3rd July, then we revert to 2B again.	Cask Marque - Top Marks Awarded! 	Hog Roast - Friday 29th April The Duke hosted a Hog Roast on Friday, 29th April - the Royal Wedding Day! With the best DJ in town spinning the discs with a special Motown mix, the evening was a memorable one. The Royal wedding was shown on the plasma screens all day, then the hog roast & buffet was from 7pm 'til late. Read more here.	St. George's Day - Saturday 23rd April At the Duke on St. George's Day we had a traditional English menu, which accompanied the usual Bar & A la Carte menus. With the usual traditional favourites, the evening was both an enjoyable and patriotic one!

	Blue Sapphire 'Royal' Real Ale - 4.7% ABV Arkell's Brewery has launched a new Real Ale in celebration of the Royal Wedding. The name of the ale was chosen by a 10 year-old named Millie, who name the ale after Kate Middleton's engagement ring. Read more here. Blue Sapphire Ale is now available at the Duke.	Chopper Harris Night - Monday 11th April The Duke's 4th Chopper Harris night was in celebration of the 1971 Cup Winners Cup win. Chopper came to the Duke together with Peter 'the Cat' Bonetti and John Dempsey, both also members of that historic cup winning team. It was a fantastic evening with great stories and the usual full buffet.

	Mothers Day - Sunday 3rd April Mothering Sunday was fully booked again, with the extensive Sunday lunch menu offered to mum's and family on this celebratory day. The ever-popular Sunday roasts were enjoyed by most, as well as many daily specials. An excellent celebratory day at the Duke.	Royal Bassett Ale Arkell's Brewery is proud to announce that, in recognition of Wootton Bassett's new royal charter status, it is brewing a special new beer called Royal Bassett Ale. As a result Arkell's will donate £10 for every 9 gallon barrel they sell to The Soldier Charity (formerly the Army Benevolent Fund).

	Mad Cow' - CAMRA South East Berkshire The Feb-April edition of Mad Cow Magazine, which is CAMRA's South East Berkshire magazine, announces that the Duke of Edinburgh has come 4th for the 3rd month running for beer quality. The Duke is proud to offer a range of real ales. Read more here.	Valentine's Day - Enjoyed by all It was a perfect couple's evening. On Monday 14th February the Duke hosted a wonderful Valentine's day evening meal, which included an appetiser, 7 choices of starters & main courses, dessert, then coffee & mints. 	Thames Valley Hospice - Quiz Night Saturday 19th March was Quiz Night, all in aid of the Thames Valley Hospice. At just £10 per head, which included a large hot & cold buffet, it was very good value - over 100 people attended! An excellent evening - with the quiz, buffet and the raffle all enjoyed by all. The ever popular raffle had some wonderful prizes.	CAMRA Award 3 years ago Nick and Annie received a award for ten years service from Camra in recognition of the fine real ales served at The Duke of Edinburgh. The Duke has a selection of Real Ales, including two guest ales at all times. Read more here.

	Good Beer Guide 2011 Yes, we’re in it! The Duke is featured in this year’s Good Beer Guide.	Magners Cider - on Draft Magners is now available in draft. This is in addition to both Apple & Pear Magners offered in pint bottles (568ml).

	Cask Marque Our real ales have been given cask marque status, receiving full marks. Cask Marque - Awarded for excellence in the serving of cask beer.	Sebastian's Action Trust Sebastian’s Action Trust is creating the only purpose-built facility that will offer respite holidays to very sick children and their families, enabling precious time to be spent together. The charity cares about making life a little easier for these children and young people. The Duke supports Sebastian's Action Trust. Read more here.
