'Special' Ales

As well as the usual portfolio of excellent Arkell's Real Ales available at the Duke of Edinburgh, we also offer limited edition and specially brewed ales from time-to-time. Please feel free to ask a member of staff for a tasting before ordering a pint. These are in addition to our regular choice of real ales, which can be seen here.

	Ball & Chain Real Ale - Limited Edition This specioal ale is brewed to celebrate Alex, Arkell's head brewer, is getting married on the 26th January 2013. He has created an innovative new beer using 4 different types of malt and 3 hop varieties added throughout the process. A beautiful pint with an ABV of 5.0%. Good luck for the futre, Alex - from Arkell's Brewery! ABV: 5.0%

	Medal Maker Real Ale - Limited Edition Our latest beer celebrates the London Olympics 2012. Brewed especially for the London Olympics by Arkell's of Swindon. Available from 2nd week of July and over the Olympic games whilst stocks last. A beautiful summer pint with an ABV of 3.6%. Good luck to all in Team GB from Arkell's Brewery! ABV: 3.6%

	Queen's Tipple Ale - Limited Edition Arkell's Arkell's Royal "Queen's Tipple" Ale - ABV 4.5%. Available from 21st May onwards over the Jubilee period. A celebratory Light pale ale, brewed by Arkell's just for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The Queen's Tipple is now on at the Duke. It is so called because of the Tipple Malt that head brewer Alex Arkell is using in the recipe. ABV: 4.5%.

	Bee's Organic Ale Following its huge success since its launch in bottles in 2001, Arkell's award-winning Bee's Organic Ale joined the regular roster of special, seasonal ales in April 2007. It is now back at the Duke from 13th September. Organically-grown malted barley, hops and, unusually, organically-produced honey are used in the brew. These give this cask-conditioned ale a light, fresh taste - with the organic honey providing a delightful and surprising flavour. ABV: 4.5%

	Hurricane Fine Ale - Limited Edition Arkell's New Ale - Launched for the Royal International Air Tattoo. This new limited edition fine ale will be available at the Duke from Saturday 14th July for a few weeks. Hurricane Ale has been brewed by Arkell's as a commemorative ale for the Royal International Air Tattoo 2011. ABV: 4.0%.

	JRA 60 - 'Celebratory' Real Ale The Duke had a special real ale in June & July - JRA 60. The real ale was specially brewed as a one-off to celebrate Chairman James Arkell's 60th bithday. It replaced the regular 2B for a few weeks and was greatly received - a perfect beverage for that sunny day or balmy evening. ABV: 3.6%

	Wiltshire Gold Real Ale The Duke will be offering its latest guest ale, Wiltshire Gold, from Friday 14th May. The ale is a light amber colour using Styrian goldings, with a gentle floral, hoppy aroma, and a sweet, malty taste. Perfect for a sunny day! Cask Marque - Awarded for excellence in the serving of cask beer. ABV: 4.0%

	Blue Sapphire 'Royal' Real Ale Arkell's Brewery has launched a new Real Ale in celebration of the Royal Wedding. The name of the ale was chosen by a 10 year-old named Millie, who name the ale after Kate Middleton's engagement ring. Read more here. Blue Sapphire Ale is available at the Duke, but bear with us as we swop special real ales as they are released. ABV: 4.7%

	Royal Bassett Ale - Wootton Bassett Arkell's Brewery is proud to announce that, in recognition of Wootton Bassett's new royal charter status, it is brewing a special new beer called Royal Bassett Ale. As a result Arkell's will donate £10 for every 9 gallon barrel they sell to The Soldier Charity (formerly the Army Benevolent Fund). ABV: TBA%
